WFXG-TV ANNOUNCES THIRD HABITAT HOME BUILD
North Augusta Habitat for Humanity, WFXG-TV and our Building Dreams partners North Augusta Wal-Mart, P.F. Chang's, Savannah River Remediation, Enloe and Saturn of Augusta announce the start of a new home build in North Augusta. This will be the third home build that WFXG has been a part of; the first home was built in North Augusta in 2008, the second in Augusta in 2009. This home will include a substantial involvement in funding and labor by True North Church in North Augusta.
North Augusta HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
Groundbreaking on the home at Austin Street in North Augusta, SC will take place in late October and will take approximately 6-8 months to complete. North Augusta Habitat for Humanity and WFXG along with the Building Dreams Partners will hold a Kick-off later this month at the build location on Austin Street. The public will be invited to attend.
