City of Augusta unveils Masters traffic plan

AUGUSTA (WFXG) - As The Masters begins, so does the heavy traffic. The Augusta Traffic Engineering Division has unveiled a plan to deal with traffic during Masters week. The plan manages traffic going into and out of the area surrounding Augusta National Golf Club.

Exit 199 eastbound off ramp on Interstate 20 onto Washington Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to around 10 a.m. daily. Drivers are advised to continue to exit 200 Riverwatch Parkway onto Calhoun Expressway and westbound on Washington Road towards Augusta National. As play begins to end daily, both lanes of Berckmans Road will become a one-way southbound route.

Patrons who are traveling from Atlanta are asked to take Exit 196 onto Wheeler Road and then take Berckmans Road or Exit 200 onto Riverwatch Parkway.

Augusta’s Traffic Engineering Division has made it clear that all patrons traveling to the masters should NOT use GPS as they travel to Augusta National, instead they are recommending all patrons to use and pay attention to the signs detailing which exits and roads to take for certain parking lots and entrances to Augusta National.

FOX 54 is committed to helping patrons enjoy their Masters experience, download our news and weather apps to stay current with weather, traffic, and breaking news.
