Two adults injured in drive-by shooting in North Augusta
North Augusta drive-by shooting causes one car to crash into a local residence.

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - Two adults were injured in a crash after a drive-by shooting on Pershing and Crystal Lake Dr. in North Augusta.

According to North Augusta Public Safety, the shooting happened at around 9:15 p.m. near Pershing Dr. and Alta Vista Ave. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 2014 Hyundai Elantra wrecked in the front of a home on the 600 block of Pershing Dr. Officers responding to the scene found 2 men who had both been shot; one in the leg and the other in his left arm.

The driver of the car told officers he was dropping off one of the shot men when an SUV pulled up and began shooting at his vehicle. He says he sped away, crashing into the house. After the crash, the suspects in the SUV reportedly shot at the Elantra sever more times, then sped away. Witnesses told police that people in the Elantra and SUV were shooting at each other. Estimates say around 100 rounds were fired.

One witness told officers the people in the Elantra had stashed some items nearby before police arrived. When officers searched the area, they found 2 handguns, loose cash, and a backpack containing drugs. One of the handguns was reported stolen in the city of Aiken.

Several houses and other cars in the area were also struck by bullets. Public Safety says they have not been able to get a clear picture of what happened.
