NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) - A North Augusta man has been arrested after investigators say he drunkenly fired a gun into a nearby home.

At around 11:19 p.m. Saturday, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 300 block of Birch St. in North Augusta for a reported shooting. Deputies spoke with the 4 uninjured victims. They say they heard shots fired in the area and that a bullet entered the home where 2 of the victims were sleeping.

An investigation led deputies across the street to 20-year-old Stephen Connor Clemons. He was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm and possession with intent to distribute.

This is an isolated incident where alcohol was involved and poor judgment on the suspect’s part. This could have been worse than just property damage it could have easily harmed or injured innocent people.
