AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Students at Stevens Creek Elementary School are sending troops overseas a “musical Christmas card” this holiday season. This is part of Operation Hand-warmer, which is an organization that sends care packages to U.S. Military members during the holiday season.

As part of their care package this year, they will be able to listen to the student’s performance as either an MP3, DVD, or file they can stream online. Teachers and students hope that this will give our troops extra encouragement and some holiday cheer. The music teacher at Stevens Creek said it also teaches the students about the true meaning of the holiday season. Jamie Sidener said, “[The kids are able] to see the importance of what we’re doing and that the holidays are not just for themselves and gifts, but to give back a little bit and to share the joy with others.”
