Homicide victim’s missing car found

Victim in Augusta homicide identified

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a homicide in Augusta.

According to the coroner’s office, 73-year-old Esau Royal was found inside his home 3400 block of S. Kensington Dr. in Augusta by family and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night. Royal was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a black Chrysler 300 with GA tag BSL5284 that was stolen from Royal’s home. The car was found Friday afternoon.

The body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy. This investigation is still in its early stages.
