Jefferson County, GA first responders prepared to protect during Hurricane Michael

AUGUSTA, GA. (WFXG) - Over in Jefferson County... several agencies are in place to make sure you’re safe. They staged at various businesses near Highway One Wednesday night.

Around 50 first responders - a combination of Wrens police officers, Jefferson County Sheriffs Office deputies and EMJS crews from Gold Cross.

They say it’s important to be out there in case anything bad happens while the storm is incoming.

“We knew what we signed up for and we understand that anything can happen at any moment and being that we’ve been trained for situations like this so if we have to go jump in the pond to save a life we will if we have to go climb through a roof to take someone off the roof we will,” said Wrens Police Department Cpl. Terrance Jackson.

The crews said they’d be in the area as needed,
